One of my favorite things about My Digital Studio is the ability it gives me to think outside of the box—to see our stamps in a completely different way, and do things we can’t do otherwise.
One of my main goals this year is to be ahead of the game before the holidays get here so that I can really enjoy them. I thought it would be fun to get a jump on some Christmas card and wrapping ideas, and since NOBODY does coordinating better than Stampin’ Up!, I thought my wrapping and card should coordinate.
I created the front for my gift bag in a 12" x 12" page project in MDS using the Snow Day Stamp Brush Set. I really enlarged the snowman so just his head, hat and top of his scarf fit. I added the details of his face and colored his hat, placing a freeform layer behind it in white to make it stand out. Once I was done designing the front, I added a “duplicate page mirrored” for the back of the bag and then added an additional page so that I could create extras of the pom-pom and nose (they are popped up on Stampin’ Dimensionals). I sent two of each page to be printed so I could also pop up the eyes, scarf, and hat.
I used the same image and colors for the card, adding in the details of actual MDS button embellishments to add to the whimsy.
While I was working on the mirrored page for the back of the bag, a funny thought crossed my mind, so I decided to make it look like it was the actual back of the snowman. Well, I couldn’t stop there, so I had to do the same for the card!
I was so tickled with myself! I’ll have to plan carefully on who will receive this little ensemble – it’s definitely going to have to go to someone who will appreciate my quirkiness!
