Whenever I get a new download I like to spend some time going through each of them just so I can familiarize myself with all of that digital goodness. I've found that it's a real time saver to use the universal search to track down what I'm looking for. I just type in the name of the download and MDS brings up everything with that name. This is especially helpful if I'm having trouble finding a particular download—every once in awhile things end up in unexpected places.

As I was sitting at my desk recently and pouring through my new downloads I had so many ideas that I just couldn't decide what to do first. (Sounds like an awesome problem to have right?) Well, I guess it is better than having no ideas at all, but I really was frustrated. Finally I just started pulling the papers and embellishments that I liked onto my canvas. After much deleting, adding, and deleting again, I finally remembered what it is I love so much about scrapbooking—the creative process. It's my scrapbook—I can do whatever I want.

Sometimes I'm so busy trying to plan my layout that I forget to just get started. I don't need to follow any hard and fast rules, I don't need to make my pages look exactly like those designers that I admire so much and I certainly don't have to know exactly how something will look before I ever add paper to my canvas. I just need to start.

Here's what happened when I threw caution to the wind and simply started creating:

I started by pulling out some fun papers from the Kaleidoscope Designer Series Paper, then I experimented with photo frames and overlays and added some pictures. For me, it's sometimes easier to start a page without knowing which pictures to use. I feel like I have more freedom to be creative that way. I'm not tied down by a particular theme; I can just focus on the design of the layout and I can change direction easily if my ideas don't work out at first.

I used some of my favorite downloads from recent weeks on this page. We'd love to see what you've done with them as well, so be sure to upload your work to the gallery on MyDigitalStudio.net!

Oh. My. Gosh. The whole page is so fun and adorable, but that border is DELISH! I'm in love! (and love how you did your journaling, too!)
