When creating a layout I love to challenge myself by mixing and matching patterns and elements that I probably wouldn't normally. You know, the "think outside of the box" mentality. Having the option to search all downloads by keywords has changed the way I scrapbook; I don't think in terms of one specific kit anymore. Using downloads this way keeps things new and exciting for me, and because there are so many possibilities it really expands the life of my downloads.

One option in My Digital Studio that I have a lot of fun with is the ability to alter punches. I wanted an arrow on my page that wasn't boxy (something with curves) but I didn't have any arrow punches like that. What's a girl to do? Make her own, of course! I found an arrow I liked and then clicked on that little button in the bottom left hand corner of the punch window that says Edit Shape. After that it was just a matter of dragging each point around until I liked my shape. I'll admit, it takes some playing around and I had to try a few times before I got what I wanted, but I'm persistent like that. Once you edit the shape you need to save it, and isn't that nice—you can use it again later on!

Another element I wanted on my page was some text in the background and I wanted it to look like some of the words had rubbed off. Because my background is solid, I was able to manipulate the stamp to get the look I was going for. I changed the stamp to Certainly Celery, and then using the Color Tool I brushed it randomly with Very Vanilla. Voila!

I hope you have lots of fun using these techniques on your own projects!

This is so amazing Amber that I just keep staring at it!  lol.  There are so many things I love about it - the button inside the burlap flower, the coffee stains, your altered arrow… Just adorable!
