I am a hybrid kind of girl. As much as I love designing and creating with MDS I still like to add layers of cardstock, ribbons, and bows to my projects. I like to design the final look of my project including photos and embellishments in MDS, then I break the “layers” I wish to print, for example, the photos are separate from the 12" x 12" paper background I have created. Below you will see one of my pages I had printed for this layout with some of the photos at the top and my paper underneath.

Once I printed my sheets, I cut the elements and photos out and since I had already designed my page in MDS, I just assembled the page and added little extra cardstock and ribbons.

I created a double page layout to give me room to journal and showcase photos of my niece. I cropped the photos on the left to be facial snapshots and on the right I have the full image. Journaling is important to me on my pages, I like to remember what was happening at that point in time.

I prefer to scrapbook using MDS, then print out the pages because I like the ability to print my text straight onto paper, like I have done with the subtitle of the page “May she always dance to the beat of her own drum.” I printed “SHE” separate and cut out the letters then raised them with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

The main thing that made me love Stampin’ Up! in the beginning was the coordinating products and colors and I love that it also applies with MDS. I printed the wings in Coastal Cabana then used a Blender Pen to watercolor them using my Coastal Cabana ink pad.

Again the coordinating traditional products and My Digital Studio work perfectly. I love this flag embellishment I created. The image is from Affection Collection digital stamp brush set with a little Coastal Cabana ribbon which I have stitched through and tied off with a sweet bow.

Next time you are creating a scrapbook page or a card, think about what you could add to enhance this by going hybrid. Share your hybrid creations by tagging your samples "hybrid".
