Ever since my girls started school, I have enjoyed sending in little end of year treats for their classmates. Having been through seven years of schooling now, the process of watching the kids rip through my lovingly crafted and carefully created packaging to get to the bounty within is definitely getting easier, but this year it will be easier still with MDS on my creative team for the very first time!

With food allergies abounding these days, and there being a total embargo on all nut products entering our school grounds, I have to think a little harder to come up with something that I can send in for treats. Candy canes are already plentiful and so many chocolate options contain nuts of some variety; it's too much of a minefield to easily navigate so this year I got my bake on for my daughter’s class!

Last week during one of my frequent browsing expeditions at Officeworks (an office supply store here in Australia), I stumbled across some printable labels in CRUMB CAKE! Well, they called them Kraft Brown, but they are most definitely Crumb Cake to me, and I immediately grabbed a pack because that's what stationery nerds do I had a feeling in my bones that they would come in handy for my planned Christmas treat project.

And come in handy they did. I was simply able to create a custom project in MDS, sized specifically for the dimensions of the labels, and I used the online template that is provided by the label manufacturer to add my finished design directly onto the printable template. Couldn't be easier!

Here's how the project looked in MDS.

And here's how my daughter looked on the morning of taking a large box of the packaged-up deliciousness to school.

For my youngest daughter’s class, I bypassed the edible treats altogether and will be sending her in with these.

I picked up some adorable Christmas pencils in packs of ten from one of those cheap and cheerful shops that can be found in most shopping centers and they fit perfectly in the long, thin cellophane bags from Stampin' Up!

I opened up another custom project in MDS, this time sized in order to be punched out with the 1-1/4" Circle Punch and the with the addition of the gorgeous "Merry Little Christmas" stamp from the To You From Me Designer Template in Early Espresso, the front side of the little bag topper was sorted.

On a second page of the custom project, I created a little label for the reverse of the bag topper with a sweet message from my girl to her friends. Both designs were punched out with the 1-1/4" Circle Punch and added with a Stampin' Dimensional to either side of the bag topper.

The bag topper itself is a simple and sweet shape, which I created by scoring and folding a length of cardstock and punching out the Artisan Label Punch so that the score line was just marginally inside the top edge of the punch. . .

. . . which results in this.

A glue dot on the inside bottom edge of each side keeps the topper tightly attached to the bag and the result is a delighted seven-year-old with a handful of cute and colorful gifts for her classmates!

Make sure and upload any fun class gifts you create with MDS!

These are soooo adorable Sarah!  (And of course your little model is precious as well!)  Love the trick with the punch!  :)
