A few years ago, my good friend Becky and I discovered we had the same birthday. We were in the mood for a party, and so threw a big birthday bash with a gingerbread theme. The party was such a hit that everyone there requested we do it again the following year. We are on year three now, and I don’t think we are going to stop anytime soon.
The only way I’m able to make the party happen is through the magic of MDS. The MDS designers always save my bacon with a new gingerbread download every year that is perfect for the party! You can see the invitations I did for the last two years here and here. They are both absolutely adorable (thanks to MDS) but the invitations for this year are my favorite. And it’s all thanks to Sweet on Christmas!
I started with the cookie decorating party invitation template, and just tweaked it a little bit. I wanted the Cherry Cobbler color to be more of an accent, so I just swapped out that background for one of the Baked Brown Sugar Designer Series Papers. Then all I needed to do was delete the cookie exchange stuff, and add my own information with text boxes and the invitations were all finished. So simple!
My favorite part about these invitations is the little envelope tempate that
comes with the download. All the party guests live in my neighborhood, so I
hand-delivered the invitations. As I didn’t need to put the invitations into a
mailing envelope, I decided it would be a cute personal touch to make the names
part of the envelope. The template comes with pages of tags all ready to go, so
I just selected the design I wanted, deleted the “holly jolly” stamp, and used
text boxes to add names of the party guests. Then I used the Decorative Label Punch
to pop them out and attached them with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
I wish you could have been there to hear the oohs and ahhs when I delivered the invitations. People went nuts over them! They kept asking me, “How did you DO these?” And while I was tempted to let them think I slaved over them for hours and hours, I loved being able to say that they were a piece of cake with MDS!
