4 Sweet Ideas for Your FREE Home for the Holidays Ensemble Download
The four FREE Digital Scrapbooking Day downloads* are some of my very favorites! The joke around the office is that my favorite download is the last one that was designed. What can I say? It’s true -- I love new artwork and our designers do such a fab job!
When a small group of us sit down each month to decide what the monthly downloads should be, the hardest part is deciding which of the great ideas…

A My Digital Studio Convert
Do you ever feel like you just don’t have enough time to scrapbook all of the memories you’ve captured in pictures (most of which are probably still in the camera, LOL)? I used to feel that way, too. In fact, I thought I could never be a digital scrapbooker. How would I ever create a layout without a paper trimmer and adhesive?! Still, I bought My Digital Studio shortly after it came out. I figured I would need to learn it in order to share it with my customers. Why I didn’t start using it…

Christmas Cards with Our FREE Home for the Holidays Ensemble
Well the snow will be coming soon which means it’s time to start thinking about my Christmas cards. I just love Stampin’ Up!’s new Home for the Holidays Ensemble and knew it would work perfectly for my cards this year. The ensemble comes with a greeting card designer template and some fabulous stamp brushes and embellishments which I used to create my cards.
The template is easy to work with; you can simply click on each photo box to add a picture. I played around and was able to…

Add New Life to Your Christmas Card Photos
Lots of us are scrambling this time of year to put together our Christmas cards to send to our many friends and family. So I thought I’d show you a great way to use My Digital Studio to add new life to a photo. I decided to repurpose my Christmas card photo from last year when my son Weston was born. I had some fun with Photoshop on this photo, but what I’m going illustrate would work with an everyday photo as well.
I selected a postcard slightly larger than my original photo…

Go, Team!
As the World Series wraps up and football season is well underway, this is the time of year when many sports-loving scrapbookers start looking for sports-themed products. I know I am—I have photos of Seth playing football and our family getting into the local college rivalry game. So that’s where my thoughts went this week as I was thinking about my weekly My Digital Studio project.
So I decided to try to come up with a quick, easy sports-theme template.

Project 52: On CASE-ing
(CASE=Copy And Share Everything)
I’m not the type of girl that likes to repeat layouts in my photobook. I want each spread to have an individual look. I wish I wasn’t like this. It would be so much easier to just create four layouts and repeat them over and over. Many of you do that, and I admire and envy you! For some reason, my brain demands something new on every page.
My London book was starting to get rather lengthy, and I was out of ideas for new ways…

Have I mentioned I love templates?
Here I am again—Queen of the Templates. :) Yes, as one who is creatively challenged, I’m afraid to design anything in My Digital Studio without a template. But really—why should I have to? With so many great designer templates to choose from, Stampin’ Up!’s talented artists have done the hard work for me!

Planning Something?
Planning. That’s where it all began. About the time Garren and I started planning our lives together, the My Digital Studio team decided (in a planning meeting, of course) that we needed a universal guest book. Since I’m the main My Digital Studio product designer, I was lucky enough to design our Something Blue Guestbook Template download.…

Month in Review Pages
As I was thinking about what project to do this week, I realized that I had completely forgotten about doing my month in review pages! I haven’t done one since July. . . with all the end-of-summer activities and then school starting, doing these pages just slipped my mind.
And as I thought over what we did in August and September, I had to smile—our family did some fun things, and I definitely want to get those activities recorded!

Personalized Christmas Cards & a Personalized Name Stamp!
Every year for the past 15 years I have created a personalized Christmas card. Each year I try to work on something a little bit different from the year before. The first couple of years the cards I created were essentially a “funny pet photo” cards designed with minimal type in another design program. Then as I became more and more obsessed with stamping, my Christmas cards became a little more handmade and less computer generated, which can be a massive task when you are creating 50 to 100…

A Happy Little Boy
My four-year-old son, Nathan, just started junior kindergarten. He goes to a full day everyday program and has really struggled with the long days and missing being home (in particular he misses his younger brother . . . so sweet). He's a real trooper and has been doing okay. We like to celebrate his accomplishments and so we’ve been really trying to show off his hard work by showcasing what he completes at school! My fridge at home is absolutely covered in creations, and this probably won't…

Toil & Trouble Halloween Invitation
I love decorative details. For me, trying to simultaneously juggle lots of embellishments is like putting together a puzzle – and it’s a challenge just to see if I can do it! Fortunately, My Digital Studio lets me add as much detail as I want – and in fact makes it easy! One of my favorite ways to create layers of interest in my digital projects is to make JPEGS of separate designs, decrease the JPEG size, then use them as accents. This does involve extra time, but for me, it’s fun – and…

The Chore Wars Debate
A couple months back, my wife and I read an article in Time magazine called Chore Wars. It cited some research showing that men and women are becoming more equal in terms of the quantity of work they perform, both inside and outside the home. Needless to say, it sparked some debate in my home, and since my wife has an Esquire on her business cards, I didn’t really hold out hope for victory.
The result, however, was actually quite interesting in hindsight. We agreed to…

A Girls’ Weekend Album
Earlier this year, I spent a fun girls’ weekend with some friends of mine from our Seattle days. Most of us have moved away, so it was great to get together. We met up at a friend’s house in Texas and just enjoyed doing things friends like to do—chatting, eating, and other fun girls’ stuff.

Project 52: When Did I Start Liking Vintage?
I don’t do vintage. I have said that before, and I’ll probably say it again. I appreciate the talent it takes to create vintage-looking designs, and I honestly think that a lot of the vintage projects I see are very beautiful—it’s just not my personal style. So I have been surprised to see the number of vintage style stamps showing up in my London photobook! How did that happen?
Here’s an example:
