6x6 watercolor card

watercolor technique using the splatter from the Extreme Elements set to add color to negative area. This card started as a 6x6 Card Template in MDS called SUMMER HOME 6x6 Card 2. I added the Just Believe image and used the existing background

Here is my advice to anyone trying this out:  I put a colored circle punch behind the stamp... then started adding my layers of splotches and smaller flower color punches on TOP of everything.  Then if I wanted to know if it was lined up right - I'd just click the stamp - bring to front - decide what needed to be adjusted, then hit the 'undo' button to put the stamp back under all the other layers I was adding on top - but without the added frustration of dealing with that many layers!   And once I was really done - I picked several items, then grouped.  then several more, then grouped, etc, etc until all my top layers were grouped.  then i could move it back one layer.  then move the stamp back a layer to revel the background circle punch - group that to the original group, then move back one layer - BUT KEEP IT SELECTED while ctrl+click the stamp, then group again to get one solid embellishment that can be moved and resized as needed to fit with your project!  If none of that made sense - just remember that whatever you want on top in the final version gets grouped LAST!  Thank GOD for the new Grouping Abilities with the last update!  But every step took eons to wait for - so wish my computer had more guts!

I've been waiting for the right place to use it! and I'm working on a garden-party setting scrapbook page that uses the Just Beleive Stamp set - so thought I'd give this a go!  Wow - it might really be time for a new computer if this 2" embellishment took me 1.5 hours!  reaaaaaally pretty though!

Shirley,

I think a video would be perfect...  i'll add that to my list... but Cindy's blog does a great job of explaining it too.. it's really a fun technique to play with once you get the concept... glad you like it!

Patty, This is just gorgeous!  I love watercoloring my homemade cards and never would have thought of this technique to watercolor digitally.  Thank you so much for sharing this idea.

Patty, you wrote - "The writing is in the new Strength & Hope download that was released for preorder yesterday :)  Isn't it gorgeous!!" Am I missing something or is this just for demonstrators ? When will it be available ?

Also, I did see Cindy's sample and her blog - SO SO helpful (thank you so much Cindy for doing this!).  I am thinking the green is what she did with her large circle of red & then you build color with the splatter stamp, and at the end send the Just Believe image to the front.  Have been rolling this around in my head all day today.  I MUST try this!!!!
